7 Keys to Help you Hear Your Heavenly Father… He Wants to Speak to You

Today, I was on Facebook live, teaching on the exciting topic of our Heavenly Father speaking to us. I had a great time with a wonderful group of people.

I first “heard” the Lord when I was eight years old. At that time, because He warned me, I escaped extreme danger. And because He warned me, I grew up with an unshakable faith in Him. This doesn’t mean that I never asked the hard questions. Such as, “Lord, where were you when…happened? Lord, why did that happen to me? Lord, I know you didn’t cause that person’s accident, but did you allow it?”

You know, asking these types of questions is okay. I believe that it’s healthy to ask them and to sincerely seek the Lord for resolution, which might not include an answer to your inquiry but provides you with a helpful revelation.

For instance, someone I greatly love and cherish became ill and died. After his death, I had a big question in my heart. Why did he dramatically improve when we prayed for him, but days later he spiraled downward?

It just didn’t make sense to me. Really, it didn’t. I accepted his passing, but in the back of my mind I wondered, “Why? Why? Why?” One night in a dream, clear out of the blue, revelation came to me and my big question was answered.

I understood that there was far more going on with my dear one than I had previously known. I learned this in a dream in answer to my “Why” question.

Through dreams is one example of how the Lord speaks to us. (By the way, I’ll be teaching on dream language in the next class, Thursday, January 18th at Noon, PST. You might want to write down the date and time. Then on 01/18 at noon go to my FB page and look for the live video at the top of my page.)

Over the years, I’ve learned that our Heavenly Father speaks to us more often than we’re aware. I know this because many times I’ve heard mature believers say that God doesn’t speak to them. But I’ve observed times in their lives when He actually had told them something. The issue here is not, “Why doesn’t God speak to me?” But it’s more like, “Why aren’t you recognizing when He speaks?”
The answer may be that even mature believers haven’t yet learned how to recognize His “voice.”

The Bible states an emphatic truth–It’s an absolute certainty that the Lord speaks to every child of God by His Holy Spirit. But not everyone knows how He speaks to them or how to discern between their thoughts and His words.

Just as with many facets of the Christian walk, “hearing” God is something that can be taught and learned. Through the free Facebook live classes, I’m teaching my brothers and sisters in Christ how to “hear” His voice. It delights my heart to pass on to others what He’s taught me.

Over time, as we continue in the Lord, we learn to recognize when He’s speaking to us. We learn that certain actions can hinder our relationship with Him and certain actions can assist us in intentionally drawing closer to Him. And we learn that we can actually develop the ability to “hear” and receive from Him.

There are certain actions that I’ve found to be particularly meaningful in my walk with God. I’m sharing seven of them here with you. Put them to use to contribute to a vibrant, flourishing relationship with your Heavenly Father. Of course, this includes “hearing” Him speak to you.

1. Seek the Lord God to personally and deeply know Him.
2. Read any of the four Gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke or John. Prior to reading scripture, ask the Lord to reveal to you your Heavenly Father’s heart and His nature through Jesus’ life and teachings.
3. Embrace the unconditional love that God has for you. Read scripture and think about what’s revealed in it about His love. Suggestions are: Romans 8, First Corinthians 13 and all of 1 John (1 John is only a few pages long.)
4. Value God’s words, the Bible, when He speaks directly and personally to you, and when someone gives you a word from Him. Write them down in a journal or in a notebook. (By the way, all such words should never produce fear or shame, and they should never lead you into sin or bonadage. Words that are supposedly from Him that do so are not from your Heavenly Father.)
5. Sincerely desire a walk that includes talking to Him and hearing Him speak to you.
6. Make a space and a place in your life to be with your Heavenly Father. This could include: reading scripture and talking to Him about it. Worshiping Him. Asking Him to come especially close to you and expecting Him to do so. Asking Him a question and waiting for His answer. The answer might come in a dream. He might speak directly to you while you wait. He might speak to you through someone else. He might speak to you through an event, or through some other way. The key here is to make a space and place in your life to be with Him and Remember to add some quiet pauses when you listen with your heart for His voice.
7. Know the ways that He communicates. If you’re expecting a voice in your physical ear, you will be waiting a long time. Most often, He communicates deep within your heart and His voice is “still,” not noisy or loud.

WHEN IS THE NEXT LIVE CLASS?
Next Thursday, January 18, 2018 from noon – 1:00 PST on my Facebook page.

Next week’s class, Sleep Talking or When our Father Speaks to us while we Sleep will be instructional, helpful and super fun. It’s not all about dreams, but I will talk about dream language and I’ll share about some famous people who received instruction and ideas from the Lord while they slept. Surprisingly, the information that God gave them didn’t always come in dreams. Next Thursday at noon, tune into my Facebook page to learn more.

One more thing…the video from today’s lesson will remain on my Facebook page. Feel free to enjoy it, and share it to those you feel will be interested. Let me know if you’d like me to teach on a certain aspect of the prophetic and I’ll try to include it in one of the classes.

God bless you,

Pamela

Supernaturally Delivered from Death’s Door

Advancing the Kingdom Ministries founder and director of Ignite School of Ministry, Pamela Koefoed on Focus Today, describes how Jesus delivered her from death’s door.

Her remarkable testimony is filled with great hope and encouragement.

Being Supernatural Naturally

What do you do when at a restaurant you perceive that the waitress’ future involves a very specific field of work? I mean, when you know what she wants to do instead of working in a restaurant, and you have not gained this knowledge from something she said.

On my way home from Klamath Falls yesterday, while I waited for my to go order, suddenly I knew the career dream that’s been in my waitresses heart.

I see myself as the mail carrier, bringing love letters from the Lord to individuals. This sort of thing happens to me a lot, sometimes in situations that aren’t suitable for ministry, more often while I’m serving the Lord at churches and special events, and on occasion in settings like the one I’m telling you about here–where it’s much easier to encourage a total stranger with a “love letter” from the Lord.

loveletterWhen I gave the waitress the word, it was in the context of her just saying that an employee had called in sick. So, you can see that chiming in about a whole new career path was totally out there.

This is how I handled it…

“You’re not in college?” I said. “But you want to go to Beauty School. You would be really good in that field.”

She responded by sharing with me her dream of going to Cosmetology school and working in the beauty industry. I learned that she’s wanted to be a hair stylist for a long time, but significant changes in her current situation need to happen first. She described exactly what she wants to specialize in, because (I learned from her) there are all sorts of specialized areas within that field.

So how did I know that in her heart was a dream of going to Cosmetology school? The answer is in 1 Corinthians 12 and 1 Corinthians 14 where Paul teaches about the ministry of God’s Holy Spirit. Through what he called “words of knowledge,” individuals are encouraged, comforted, and edified. Additionally, all of the gifts of the Spirit reveal God’s Presence and His loving care.

The waitress asked me what I was doing in Klamath? I explained that I was on my way home after ministering at a couple of churches. This was a good opening to then mention briefly that the Lord is the One who revealed to me her career dream. I have no idea where she’s at in faith, but I could tell by her smile that my words were well received.

I’m grateful that I’m learning how “to be supernatural naturally,” as my friend Jean Krisle Balsi puts it.

How do we receive love letters from the Father for the people along our paths?

It’s as simple as what Corrie Ten Boom said,

“The glove can do nothing. Oh, but if my hand is in the glove, it can do many things…cook, play the piano, write. Well, you say that is not the glove, but the hand in the glove that does it. Yes, that is so. I tell you that we are nothing but gloves. The hand in the glove is the Holy Spirit of God. Can the glove do something if it is very near the hand? No! The glove must be filled with the hand to do the work. That is exactly the same for us: We must be filled with the Holy Spirit to do the work God has for us to do.”

It’s just like that, you know.

Love on someone today and let them know that God cares deeply about them.
